Sale!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been busy, so yes, I’ve been a bit negligent with this site. But good news! My sketch comedy group, Meg & Rob, is performing at Snubfest in Chicago this June, so I’m having a big sale to raise money for the trip! All shirts are between $8 and $15 off, and if you order four postcards, I’ll throw in a fifth for free. Yay!

Still Here!

Sorry about the lack of updates recently; I’ve been focusing a lot of my time on my other big project, Meg and Rob. But hey! In the next couple of weeks I’m going to be adding more shirts to the site for your holiday shopping pleasure. For the moment, check out the new sizes 180 GB of Sass now comes in.

Back in Action

Hey! I’m back from Crafty Bastards (okay, I’ve been back for a week, but I was taking a nice breather), and I have shirts for you! They’re not all up on the site yet, but for the moment, check out all the new sizes in The Internet is Powered by Bees and Slicker Than Your Average Oil Spill.

Crafty Bastards in Washington, DC This Weekend!

Tomorrow morning my friend Danielle and I are packing up the car and heading to DC for the weekend to peruse museums, rabble-rouse, and most importantly, sell my wares at the Crafty Bastards show. I’m super-excited. Everything I hear about this show is absolutely amazing! If you’re in the area, make sure to check it out. There’s going to be entertainers, demonstrations, and 100 vendors culled from the cream of the craft world (not sure how I managed to sneak in there, but I’ll take it). 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Marie Reed Learning Center at 18th & Wyoming.

And look! There’s even a Q&A with me on the Washington City Paper’s Crafty Bastards blog.

Clothing for Young Humans and Why the Lack of Updates

First of all: See this sweatshirt? It’s a kids sweatshirt! I’ve started making stuff for kids!

Now then, I know I haven’t made many updates lately. I’ve been stitching consistently, but I’m saving everything I make for the Crafty Bastards show at the end of September. Supposedly, the show is ridiculous. Like, one of the best craft shows all year in terms of sales. So…yeah. Updates will be trickling in between now and September 30, and they’ll come back in full force after that.

Blog and Flickr Love

Some very nice people have been writing some suspiciously nice things about Gladys Makes Things stuff, and I’ve been meaning to post some links. Here’s a big round up:

Yay!

It's Alive!

And moreover, it’s done. This was a custom piece of the front flap of a messenger bag that is so large, the guy who makes it calls it “the truck.” I didn’t time myself, but I think it took about 80 hours of stitching. In conclusion: holy crap. I mean, that’s not a job. That’s a vision quest.

The bag itself is being made by awesome-bag-maker Isaac at Chicago WIG. He said he’d be interested in more collaborations, so if you ever want a custom bag, shoot me an email at meg@gladysmakesthings.com. Just be forewarned that these things take a while. Like, months.

Updates are Coming!

A couple of people have emailed recently asking me when the site is going to be updated, sizes will be restocked, and so forth. Well, right now all of my crafty energies are going into one monstrous project (I mean that literally; it’s of a yeti) that’s due at the end of the month. After that’s done I’ll be adding new products to the website and eagerly tackling the custom shirt orders that have been coming in. In the meantime, if there’s a shirt you’re interested in, but your size isn’t in stock, feel free to email me at meg@gladysmakesthings.com, and we can chat about a custom order.

And hey! While you’re here, why don’t you take a peek at these new(ish) items that I added after the Art Star Craft Bazaar but never announced: Assume a New Identity Kit for the Distinguished Gentleman, LOL Cat Shirt, The Internet is Powered by Bees Sweatshirt, and The “Doctor, My Blood Hurts” Postcard.

Art Star Recap

To everyone who stopped by at the Craft Bazaar, thank you! It was fantastic seeing friends and meeting new folks. In the next couple of days, look for new shirts and paper goods that were debuted at the Bazaar to start showing up here.

I spoke to a lot of people who were interested in custom work, which is great. I know I told everyone that I won’t be ready to work on new custom orders for about a month (which is true), but if you’re interested in getting a shirt, email me now at meg@gladysmakesthings.com. That way I can order your blank shirt in the next couple of weeks and have it ready to go when I’m finished my current project.

There were so, so many excellent artists and crafters at the Bazaar. I’m going to highlight some of them soon, but for now, if you want a run-down of all of the awesome stuff I bought, take a peek at my blog.

This Weekend: Visit Me at the Art Star Craft Bazaar!

Hey! The Art Star Craft Bazaar is going on this weekend in Philadelphia, and you should come! I’ll be there hocking my wares with about 100 other crafters and artists. The event runs from 11-7 on Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday, rain or shine (hopefully shine) at Liberties Walk, 1030 N. 2nd St. If you want to see pictures of the other artists’ stuff (some of it is amazingly excellent), visit the Craft Bazaar webpage.

Philadelphia STYLE!

The Internet is Powered by Bees! shirt is featured in the new issue of Philadelphia STYLE! This is probably because they want to let people know that the bees are not actually dying off, but they are actually moving into high-paying tech jobs. Or maybe Philly STYLE just liked the shirt. Either way, I bought five copies of the issue after work. You should probably not do the same, but if you see a copy, do take a look. And of course, you can always purchase the shirt.

Hello!

After talking about it for a few months, my dear friend Mark and I finally sat down this weekend, gritted our teeth, and redesigned this site. Behold! The new Gladys Makes Things!
